What do the BiBS think?
Discussion
isp addresses, and some old antiquated police bill thingy ensure that "adolf" could make big waves for any bib who was "spotted" making those sort of comments (we could be talking police investigating police here).
yeah i know it sounds like a long shot but so was the break that nailed that belgian pedophile the other week, all it takes is determination and a fired up investigator.....

Any good detective will tell you that to help solve a murder then you have to have the incident(problem) in front of the media continually and therefore to the knowledge leading to the assistance of the public until the problem (arrest) is solved.
So in Police practice then he is doing a good job. There is hardly a day that has gone by that he has not been pontificating somewhere that speeding is not good for the Country and whether or not you like it he DOES have support in the community for this. Media play ball and he gets reported. I guess he hopes to achieve that speeding is anti-social as drink driving (he has IMHO a long way to go on this). Like it or not he does have support from Joe Public and persons in High positions in HMG.
Further, to justify his position, like a lot of Chief Constables, he has a gimmick management and his bent is........ I leave you to work out what it is. Being President of ACPO Traffic Committee adds thrust to what he is trying to achieve.

I don't believe he has got the support of the public, if the general public knew what he really wanted and what was on the horizon, there's no way they would support him.
He lies about the number of deaths/injuries, he lies about the effect of speeding, the media report it because it sells newspapers etc, not because it's true. He courts controvesy because it gets him published.
The public have a natural latency, measured in months/years. There is a long pause between the public becomming aware of something and them doing something about it. So far the general puiblic is only just becomming aware of the cash raising cameras, and at the moment there is very little they can do about it. This will change at some point in the future when it becomes a far hotter political topic than it is now. Currently, it's nutter madman Brunstrom and the scameras -v- the born again bikers and poople like us, both very small minorities in the UK.
The police who frequent this forum complain about lack of support from the public, poor attitudes towards the police etc but they won't criticise the one injustice that causes a lot of PH's (and my non-petrol head friends) to feel that way about the police. We make our beds as we used to say . . .

I think I've been fairly unequivocal, in a number of my posts, about speed cameras. My own personal view is that there is a need for some selective speed enforcement, and that some cameras and camera sites are properly placed. There are many, to my mind, that aren't.
I see daily the erosion of the remaining little good will between the public and the (few that are still left) patrolling officers. The number and placement of cameras is, in effect, neither here nor there - the perception of the (otherwise) law abiding public is that they are being targetted as a soft option, while "real" offenders get off scot free.
Pick up just about any sort of motoring magazine, be it Land Rover Owner International to Two Wheels Only. Numerous correspondents berate the lack of properly resourced (both in terms of officers AND equipment) Traffic Departments, seeing them replaced by the now almost ubiquitous cameras, which don't appear to be driving down road deaths.
However, part of the ongoing problem is the fact that the Home Office, Police Authorities, Chief Constables, and even the public, don't see traffic policing as a priority. For the Home office and Police, it's a simple matter of numbers. It's impossible to quantify a lot of traffic work; far easier to quantify detections for burglary, and to remove front line traffic officers as a knee jerk repsonse to the public's ever increasing demands to see a Police officer on every corner.
At the end of the day, I have a mortage to pay. That is why I post "anonymously", although it wouldn't take too much to figure out exactly where I work. Then factor in the times I post, which coincide with my rest periods. Because there are so few of us left, I stand out like a sore thumb, and any overt diseent means an immedaite posting as a foot patrol to the other side of the County.

You are Dicky Brumsturmfurher ... and I claim my £60! - Streaky
Not unless he has moved to Avon and zummerset..
Speed cameras, my thoughts are well known on these forums....and I have vented my spleen enough on the subject.

Well - with draconian tolerance on the darned things - stern letters, a course and still death and destruction on the county's roads ... all too easy to see why. Such a shame! I confess - I am more wary in LanCASH£re than I am in Brunstromia! And that is why we invested in b2s for the family cars which are in constant use and RAs for the classics which are not in constant use. You need 'em these days - and we do not have them to "flout the law" - we like the security of accurate speedo in fullest vies on the dash!

And these people speak the truth. Truth will out eventually and weird one in Wales will hopefully get come-uppance! Like the "shorties" before him!
Wonder if he will admit he was "misguided" when he retires like others have done in the past!

Except, Liebchen, we do not see a BiB on every corner! In fact, we see less BiBs than ever before - anywhere!

And Streetcop told me off for hinting at Stasi culture
Failure to toe party line - and loss of place in queue for the trabant and forget about the kids getting to Uni!
This really does sound like Nazi Germany during the war when step out of line for German soldiers meant either "phwit - Eastern Front" or even the camps on wrong side of the fence!
But then - like us - OK for us to criticise the boss or the firm - but anyone from "outside" - and you defend to death. Only natural!
But I still want more Dibbles, etc on those roads and less scameras! I want more Bobbies on the Beat as well. I wanjt decent state education, public transport and NHS which delivers as well - and would not begrudge the taxation - if I could only be sure that it would indeed purchase these wants and not finance wannabe heroes in quest for place in history books!

On the subject of the thread, obviously a serving officer has some difficulty expressing their true opinions although one has made a sensible comment with which I agree. I do feel that the over zealous use of speed cameras, some of which are quite blatantly cash machines for Scam partnerships, is alienating the Police from the motoring public. More attention should be paid to the appalling standards of driving often witnessed, especially the ridiculous hoggers in lane 2 who cause so much frustration and temptation to undertake etc. I would make it a 6 pointer, one warning then score 12 points and win the mountain bike.

Yes, I know exactly where they are and can drive like a nutter in the knowledge that my unregistered, untaxed , uninsured ringer will set them off, and some sober, law abidding citizen will get a ticket, whilst I will be free to continue in my life of crime to feed my crack habit. This leaves the police free to do something useful like smash child porn sites and solve real crimes, as opposed to my petty theft and muggings.
