I am thinking of hiring a campervan at Christmas as I fancy doing something a bit different this year! I quite fancy something a unique and the classic VW are a bit small and the Transit type campers are a bit boring. Anyone know of a company that offers vans that are a bit different or on that maybe has a wood burning stove fitted.

Over to you.

You can hire them but you can't take them anywhere

I know there was a company that hired out the sort of thing you're looking for (well the American stuff) IIRC they did it for corporate events & such, they deliver it to the location of your choice, you have your fun, then they collect. I think it was on fleabay I came across them & bloody expensive, but then how much do you expect the rent on a £100,000 motorhome to be.

normal camper but comes with a Caterham on a trailer.

I have rented the Caterham from them before and they are a good bunch.

Pity you hadn't asked earlier. There was a Starcraft camper on the 'bay' a few months ago. You could've bought it instead of renting. Its very different.

Yess..... you will of course need an HGV licence to drive it and be able to cope with the 2.5 mpg fuel bill... Also, have to say there is 'different' to drive, then there is an Ural tongue out

They use those as the deep forest logging trucks here in BG. The trails have ruts well over a foot and a half deep, even moreof they have been giving it beans! When you see one pushing it's way through terrain it is damned impressive!

If you hire a canal boat you'll have a nice gas-fired central heating system to keep you warm and won't even have to think about driving home from the pub!

yes mate has one - takes it on off road days, drives around 4x4 test tracks then stops up, gets in the back and makes a cuppa sat on his bed hehe

Bit gutted he's selling it, if I had the cash, and place to store it I'd take it off his hands! Not the easiest of things to drive though. Gear selection is by attrition most of the time!

+1 easily the better option

Those 'wicked' campers look to the extreme. They were all the rage with STD carrying backpackers when I was over in Oz
