Just bought some 20/50 from Wilkinsons

Nasty watery stuff emergency top up. Looks like a poor mans 3 in 1. I think I'm going to save it for use in the dashpots.

It could be OK, check if it has an API rating on the can. The real rubbish stuff does not.

B&Q are selling Carlube 20W50 which is proper API SE/CC rated oil for £11.98/4.5l. This is the same grade as the Halfrauds Classic at £18.99/5l and Comma Classic.

Not as good as the now unobtainable Duckhams Q 20W50 which was SF/CD.

I use Carlube in my Aston (3 gallons !!) and Stag and change the oil every 5k miles. Mind you, I did that with the Duckhams as well

I got some Asda Smartprice 20/50 recently. Not particularly bad and at £2.30/l in a few years it will probably be cheaper than petrol.

Couldn't agree more, same oil I use.

I found Castrol to be helpful when I enquired about suitable oils for my classics. I was also quite surprised that one of their synthetic blends is also suitable.

I agree, I wouldn't buy a 'cheap' oil.

Classic Oils are local to me, a nice guy who sells quality products at very good prices, but my advice (based on experience ) would be that if you need it for a specific date, only buy if they actually have the product IN STOCK.

This is nothing special - API SE/CC and pricewise pretty much the same as the others.

I wonder how may refineries are making this stuff ?
