I'm picking up a Fiat 500 tomorrow as a hire car for a a few days. Don't know what spec it will be but does anyone know whether they come with an ipod or aux connection? I have a 3.5mm to 3.5mm jack.

On the mid spec models yes - it will have blue&me which give you a USB port and 3.5mm Aux lead.

It isn't standard equipment though.

Depending on how old, they have a USB socket. which you can plug in with your lead.

Media player is a bit clumsy though, but then it is Windows based.hehe

The Blue & Me system is pretty cool if you manage to get a car with it fitted. My Fiat 500 has it and it works well.. just stick all your MP3's on a pen drive and away you go. If you have an iPhone, it should also work with that directly depending on how new the car is and the version of Blue&Me that it's running..

if i dont have blue and me on my car, can i just connect my iphone with a usb cable to a 12v adapter like youd get on a satnav and play music through that? or would it just charge it. never tried it as always had an fm transmitter.
now upgraded to iphone 5 and cant find another one.

is there any way i can have an aux jack/port installed into my car for a decent price???
cheers, mitch

It'll have to be a 2011 MY on one to have a 3.5mm aux socket, and work with an ipod without an adapter. Earlier models with Blue and Me only have the USB socket.

Blue and Me comes as standard with the 'Lounge' spec - it's an option with the 'pop' - you get the leather steering wheel and steering wheel controls with that.

yer ive got a 2011 'pop'. is there any way i can have an aux cable installed into the car by a garage or something?
i remember my dad had one put in to his 54 plate BMW 5 series 7 or 8 years ago but that was £180 so i know it can be done, just wondering if it can be done for a fiat 500 pop 1.2?
cheers, mitch

I'm not 100% certain, but I believe there may be a 3.5mm jack on the rear of the head unit - but I haven't seen, so can't be sure.

To retro fit Blue & Me would be quite a major undertaking, as the main wiring harness is different..

Yes you can, I had to do this to fit an Alpine Ezi DAB. Unfortunately it wasn't a 3.5mm socket on the back of the head unit, I needed to buy a Clarion adaptor, then modify it to fit. You can then select AUX by pressing the "CD" button twice.

Ahh yes, the 'aux' feed is actually within the connectors on the back of the head unit. Definitely do-able, though.

Does anyone know how to make this usb socket work with an iOS device? When I plug my i{hone into it on mum's 500 lounge, it charges up but the stereo wont recognize it. Please dont tell me it only works with windows devices? (due to the small windows sticker next to it..)

If your USB socket has the windows logo on it (rather than blue&me), then you have the 1st gen Blue and me, and need to get the iphone adapter:

Hi I have a 2009 fiat 500. Just wondering if it has an aux input? Other than blue and me? And where is it located?

If it has Blue&Me then it has aux, next to the USB connector by the front cup holders.

Yes it does, you need to buy a special Clarion cable:
