Just been onto the BBC website to complain about the whole Clarkson thing.

I'm sick of the whining, humourless liberals making a big deal out of these things - it's just humour and, let's face it, Clarkson was only saying what we're all thinking!

I can see this going the way of the Jonathan Ross/Russel Brand thing so I would urge all of you to find a way to stand up for JC before we see another case of the whining minority getting their way over the silent majority.

Have you bought his DVD? I never have. wink

Why get het up about supporting him, he's a big boy with lots of his own contacts.

Yeah, I put pretty much the same on the comments page yesterday. The BBC is not there to sensor or apologise for Clarkson, freedom of speech and all that...

It does annoy me with things like this and the Ross/Brand thing. How many of these 21000 have actually watched, heard, or read the full conversation?
If you feel strongly enough to complain after reading all of it then fair enough but I'm guessing the majority have seen the 15 second video clip or read out of context sentences in the paper.

Are you complaining about the people who are complaining about the people?

Top Gear is the BBC's most successful foreign export, and generates £33m a year for Worldwide, according to the 2010 accounts of Bedder 6, the service company in which Clarkson and the show's executive producer, Andy Wilman, have a stake.
JC is the lead presenter of Top Gear and dropping him would severely dent this income. Exactly how much the loss would be is open to debate, but I wouldn't be surprised if Top Gear finished and they lost the lot.

They got Clarkson on to advertise his new DVD and to express some over the top extreme opinions for comedic effect.
They even had the mock trial thing concerning his extreme views (delicious, cute, magnificent), so it was obviously expected of him from the outset and he obliged.

If people want to get on anyone's case then make it the producers of the One Show for setting it up. Don't hassle Clarkson for following direction.

But even so, I don't understand what gets people so het up about this sort of thing in the first place. I think you'd have to be a bit naive or thick to think he was completely serious.
Seek amusement where ye can...you homourless twcensoredts.

As said, his 'shoot them' comment was agreed with the producer before the show, so you could consider it scripted. About time the Producer broke cover and took some of the blows.

As someone, or possibly a newspaper, said, these silly bleating complaints 'show Britain at its most joyless'. How bloody right too.

Clarkson offended them but striking public servants with good salaries (paid for by me) and guaranteed pensions (paid for by me before my own pension contributions) offend ME.

Isn't Clarkson a contractor for the BBC? His company produces Top Gear so could take it to another channel
