At the NEC Classic Car show there were dozens of low mileage R107 SLs. Prices ranged from £10k to £30k for cars with between 10k and 40k miles on the clock. I think that a lot of dealers went long on these over the summer and are now a bit concerned that they may be sitting on them through the winter.

My sense is that these have topped out for the time being. Likewise the Pagoda. In fact, likewise the whole young classic shebang. As soon as you get Quentin Wilson types writing columns that say "this time it's different" and "classics are a safe haven", you just know the bubble is about to burst. I mean, just how many people are there who with 20k to spunk on a r107?

When the rather mediocre 190SLs are making north of £50k one instinctively knows the market is mad! All IMHO of course...My sense is that these have topped out for the time being. Happy to have spent 20kGBP on our 60kmiles R107 and a further 3/4k to make it perfect! Superbe drive, lots of compliment and so stylish. My wife's daily, our wkend toy is a 997.1 GT3 RS
Both of us are quite young too, combined 62yrs.

For the avoidance of doubt, I love these cars, am always looking out for one and happily would spend good money on one: I'm just not sure there are that many like us out there. I am waiting for a very early 500 SL (1980 or 1981) in an oddball colour (cream, yellow, solid green) with an oddball interior (tan, green) and a high spec. And my wife and I have a lowish combined age: 77. (Crumbs, maybe not so low anymore.)
There is a nice 420 SL at Silver Arrows but the mileage might be too high for you Erics?

In your case, 2nd equation gives:x + y = 77
x - y = 7

x = 7 + y
Replacing in 1st equation x
7 + y + y = 77
y = 35
Replacing in 2nd equation
x - 35 = 7
x = 42
In my case the 2 equations are:
x + y = 62
x = y + 10
Then replace x in 1st equation:
y + 10 + y = 62
2y = 62 - 10
2y = 52
y = 26
Replace y in the 2nd equation
x = 26 + 10
x = 36
