Just watching channel 4 news. Huge changes taleked about today.

Ever creaping further towards a new treaty. Will we finally get a referendum?

States will now be ordered to put their finances in order from Brussles.

So is Cameron going to do anything?

He says he's going to act in the best interests of UK.

I hope it won't be along the lines of his great victory when he negotiated the EU budget increase.

Oh well he'll be out soon and Labour will be in. Perhaps the size of the UKIP vote that will deny him a second term might tell him something about his success on the EU issue?

.....when will Cameron realise that there is a huge number of UK citizens that want OUT of the European Union....I and many others would rather take our chance now and leave the EU before we are dragged ever deeper into the Eurpopean mire.

I think the UKIP vote could well cost CMD and chums victory next time. He'd do well to don a disguise and go walkabout for a few days to talk to real people informally. He'd be surprised at the lack of support for the EU and the green agenda. Unfortunately, like most politicians, he lives a bubble of sycophants.

Labour have already given in to losing the next election with RedEd in charge and preparing for the next generation of a more business centric Labour party after the 2015 election.

On a side note of the actual thread.

Banks started preparing last year for a break up of the Euro zone. The big crux is what happens with a new treaty.

I can't see Cameron erring on the side of the electorate concensus of removing our status in the EU, unfortunately.

When it actually hits him in the pocket and the ego. Simple as that.

Until then, he'll only think about the eventual pay off of being a European president, commissioner, or what have you. He's a .

It would be very strange indeed if the Tories were to win the next election based on polling numbers, not to mention the probability that the economy will get worse and worse. He needs a Falklands or a 9/11 to stand any chance at all.

So that be whatever the Brussels lot tell him to do unless it harms

1)The city
2)House prices

In which case he'll say we dont need to be in the EU after all.

I know it sounds radical, unprecedented even, but a genuine, tangible improvement in people's lives would quite possibly achieve the same result. For instance cutting income tax or abolishing VAT. Obviously a war or a major terrorist attack is easier politically, but sometimes the craziest ideas work.

Tax cuts? Are you mad!

I say blame the bankers! Let's put a tax on bank bonuses and spend it on X (9 different things so far if you are Millibean).

I'd like to know if the NHS is ringfenced, then why are certain drugs, used to treat, say, high cholesterol for people who don't respond to the more normal types being stopped?

maybe the bonuses could be used for that?

(Bet you didn't know that did you.)

A deliberate attempt to misspend resources. My mother is fighting to stop £500 being paid to a lesbian poetry session when she has no money to spend on shelves that collapse in the library service.

She comes up against people who wilfully take cash away from useful but boring public services that people USE (hence they need new shelving after decades) and spend it on crap that 5 people will attend.

With few exceptions, those that oppose the mild cuts have no idea about the waste in the PS.

Highlighting individual items as you do hides the fact that the money for such drugs would have been wasted elsewhere. There is a determination to "prove" that the cuts are hurting right; this means misspending to harm the users of services as far as possible.
