Accumate permanent connection lead

Just bought an accumate battery conditioner thingy and want to connect it with the permanent fixings as opposed to using the crocodile clips. When I tried to fit it I found that my battery clamp bolts are what look likes M8 and the eyelets on the lead are probably M6. I had a rummage in my garage and found a couple of bolts that fit but I was wondering if others who have the accumate with the permanent connections have also found this?

I have put my own eyelet on which is the same size as the rest of the battery attachments.

Not being that great with all things of an electrickery nature, I thought of doing this then decided against it. But I suppose if it did go wrong I'd just have to splash out a few quid on a new lead.

Drilled mine to make eyelets slightly bigger

I got Carl Baker to do a permanent connection through the fuse box in the boot. Give him a call I'm sure he'd tell you where to attach to.

I put an M8 on the +ve and kept the original -ve fitting it onto the rear airbox fitting - this saves the arse ache of pulling the battery out to make the -ve connection. You could also drill out the +ve as suggested above if there is enough metal to do this. leaves it long enough to pop out where the wiper pipe comes out and tucks in and hides when not in use.

Charge mine through cigar socket( its a Ctek,but can't think the principle is any different)works a treat.

I've heard dodgy things about the cigar socket wiring so I think I'll keep it connected to the battery for now. Will probably look at changing the eyelets to M8 or drilling the existing ones to fit.

The lighter lx are fine, its only the aftermarket inserts that screw things up.

I believe the actumate only charges about 1 amp when on full charge, so theres nothing to worry the cigarette lighter there. Have charged mine that way for the last 3 years with no problems, its kept on 24/7 as well.
