Trying to get my S2 insured at the mo and the nice insurance companies seem to want a cat 1 alarm whereas I have the standard fit Porsche jobbie which is listed as cat 2, questions:

1 - Is it possible to upgrade the exisitng alarm or add to it?!
2 - Has anyone got details of insuarnce companies who aren't too fussed - this would be for unlimited miles and car living on the drive?!

I just insured with Privilege on their web site, and it didn't specifically ask about approved alarms or immobilisers (and it cost less than 50% of my renewal premium with Norwich Union).

Wow, Liverpool and Victoria just quoted £550 fully comp and protected NCB inlcuding business usage with no alarm questions and knowing that I had a £15k write off claim paid up last week

Was about to suggest Liverpool Victoria but you've already found them. Two of our cars are with them and the cover for business use for two of us, protected NCB and manufacturers-standard car security were very competitive. They also covered factory fitted upgraded alloys on the newer car without any questions. The third one will join them when the free manufacturer's insurance expires.

LV quoted me £750 for fully comp, protected no claims, courtesy car, 180 days European cover, bla, bla, bla on my 993tt. That was £200 less than Norwich Union.

I think I'm going to go with them next month.
