Surprised this hasn't been jumped on by the pistonheads masses yet.
How can this be reduced then?

I just read this in the Guardian (shock). In some ways, it's a good sign as it represents more women refusing the cultural norm and resisting their families.
I don't know how we stop it. For a start lets force the 13 police forces that don't collect data on honour crimes to start collecting it. Secondly, stop all the b
ks about cultural acceptance and state clearly that if you come to live in the UK there are cultural norms that you accept. These include speaking English, mixing with the local population and treating women as they deserve to be treated.

She told the BBC: "The perpetrators will be even considered as a hero within the community because he is the one defending the family and community's honour and reputation."
This is what I've said in the past and was shouted down by the PH multi-culti apologists. This isn't just a few isolated incidents, it's inherent in the whole rotten Islamic religion and associated 'culture'. People say we should communicate this aspect of culture isn't acceptable and whilst I see the sense in that, it just seems so ineffective. "Excuse me, you really need to rethink this murdering your daughter business, we don't do that sort of thing over here." Is it realistic to think we can reason with savages? Uncontrolled immigration will put this country back into the dark ages. And no surprise that the BBC doesn't mention the affected demographic. They'd waste no time in making it known if the perpetrators were white British.

"Honour" what honour? Let's rename it Brutal suppression of Muslim women by violence. Why the media insists on using this adjective to describe this familial outrage is beyond me.
Seriously?You really need to ask?
It's the media equivalent of 'Voldemort'.

I agree, but I would change the words 'uncontrolled immigration' to 'organised religion'. It does not matter where these people come from, it's their backward belief system that causes this type of thing to happen. ianash said:

Perhaps it should just be called "domestic violence"? Is it different from other "domestic violence" that happens in the UK?The first reply to this post had it right. Enforce English language competency as a requirement for immigration.
This will mean that the women brought from overseas will be able to interact with UK culture, something that is very difficult if you don't speak English. It means they won't be stuck within their community, and will be able to learn about how perhaps arranged marriages are not such a good idea.

The media have a duty to show minorities in a good light. They must avoid doing anything that may cause predudice.
No, the media have a duty to present the facts. Only that way can the public make reasonable decisions. But we are far to far down the wrong route to turn back aren't we.
