Door solenoid acting up

Out of the blue the drivers door solenoid just decided to keep actuating non stop? Unplugging the large white connector @ the control box did not stop it either I had to unplug the smaller plug with the Red & black wires to get it to stop. I lowered the window & now its down its staying down, refuses to go up or make any effort or sounds at all?
The passenger side seems to be unaffected, I have tried the search but they all seem to be about the solenoids NOT working whereas tis bugger just will not stop?

The wiring diagrams will show you which button goes to which connection on the control box. Put a meter on that terminal and see if you are getting a continuous signal. If so it would implicate buttons being stuck/faulty or the wiring harness shorted somewhere. If there is no signal on that connection then it looks like the control box is at fault.

Check inside the wing mirror, the connection to the button tends to corrode and come away from the terminal, Usually that stops the thing opening but if it caught the other terminal it would operate the solenoid continuously. Same for the internal door button.

As above, my guess would be on the wing mirror button. They're only about a fiver from RS and not really designed for outdoor use, but seem to work well despite that.

Oh well TVR land is sometimes like Lah Lah land, everything is working as if nothing had ever happened ?

If it's now working, take the opportunity to replace the door buttons wile you have a chance. Once it has happened once, I am afraid it is not the end of the problem. It will return.

Now for something completely different ...

Yesterday the windscreen washer decides not to work where as earlier i could not get them to stop!

This time dead as a Dodo, no sweep & no motor noise from washer bottle. The wipers work perfectly through all sequence's.
Also the Passenger door window wants to join in the fun & does not work at all, no drop down when you unlock the door & no up or down window movement or noise of any kind. The driver's side is all fine. So far I have disconnected the battery overnight, disconnected the window/door lock control box,removed the passenger door card & opened all the connectors etc & sprayed with electrical cleaner...no difference at all?

Pulled a few fuse's all seem OK?

Drivers door will be a dodgy connection in the door (the large black connector)

Wipers, I suspect the ribbon/connections or the converter box under the dash maybe?

Thanks Ridds , I pulled the wiper ECU in the footwell & sprayed it etc & that's now working.
The window however shows not a glimmer of life , is there a separate fuse for this window ?
Oh its the passenger side, have a heater in there just in case its damp but its odd that its just the one side.

Take the door card off and find the multiplug in the door. Disconnect and reconnect a few times and wiggle the wires while holding the window down button and see if anything happens.

Ok I've done that but to no avail, I also manged to wiggle the wires at the window switch end.
I connected a 12v supply directly to the motor
& it made a whirring noise so I guess thats OK.

The cigar socket works fine & the radio.

I'm off to halfords to buy a 12v tester as mine has managed to vanish just when i need it

It looks as though there is no power getting to the window motor at all.
The door lock works fine as does the mirror?

I have looked in my little black book & cannot see which fuse covers it.

Check the drop limit microswitch under the front edge of the window glass (under the door card). That sends a signal to the control box to cut the power to the motor. If it has failed closed circuit you will not get any window action at all. They tend to need replacing now and then, they are only a pound or so from Maplins. I don't think the window motors are on their own fuse.

Ok I found out that a fuse No 11 had blown 20a so replaced it & window worked fine until I closed the door. Reset the Window ECU now the on the switch it goes down but not up, close the door & it goes up all the way on its own, if you put the window down with the door shut to get it back up you have open door & close it to get it back up but thats not touching the "Up" button? Also now the door lock button does not work where before it did , wow I was no good at Rubic's cube's (youngster's look it up) & I'm certainly no good at TVR's niggly electric's lol
