Text Enquiries About Your Car - I Listened

After many years experience teaching me that Texters were penniless idiots I either ignored them or sent them a text back saying "Please Call"

However I've read various threads on this so when I was selling my car and got a text (not in text speak nor offering a stupid sum) I replied to his questions.

He / I sent maybe 10 each over the course of 2 days.

He then text he was coming on Saturday.

TBH I thought he wouldn't turn up, after all who would travel 90 miles to buy a car when they hadn't spoken to the seller - I wouldn't consider it.

However he came, he saw, he bought.

So some of us do heed what is written here.

I assume you are of a similar generation to me, it just doesn't seem natural to communicate without speaking, but then again.................. here we are!

Irrational (I know) but I refuse to use Phonesafe or premium rate numbers to contact sellers even if I am considering a vehicle of many £1000's.

Gradually joining the 21st century and see the merits of texting BUT cannot quite bring myself to txt spk.

Some sellers need to realise that genuine buyers are out here - make it easy for all of us. Over the last 3 years have bought 2 vehicles blind via telephone - maybe in my lifetime will buy one via text.

We've just sold our car and had a couple of genuine text enquiries, and then a plethora of the more typical, "I'll give you £4.5k" when it's up for £6.5k....

I texted the owner of my MR2 Turbo and quickly got some well typed replies back. Within half an hour I had arranged to view the car. Went to see it two days later and bought it on the spot.
