Just discussing this with a mate, we both thought '94, but have seen a '96 (LHD Import) advertised for sale. Google throws many conflicting dates up, but 1996 is mentioned in a few, although I don't think I have ever seen a classic registered that late in the UK.

Anyone shed any light, just curious....

IIRC - There were a handful of classics registered as late as '98/'99. They were some unsold vehicles, which were sold on at a bargain price to clear them out!

Late 95 early 96 depending on when they were registered. The last Range Rover Classic to be produced was driven off the production line by Noel Edmunds.

I read a lot of Land Rover mags in my youth.

The production line was closed in April/May 1996.

The last cars off the line were a batch of red, white and blue softdash's all for the Portuguese market.

However, the last chassis number is at Gaydon.

I suspect as with most ends of line there was still stock languishing in dealerships and quite probably were jobbed out on later registrations as and when they were finally sold.

I know a few of the ones used by the SAS were on P plates. That was the last batch of classics they had.
