Battery now in boot - where to fit an Anderson Connector?
Discussion
I have recently fitted the battery into the boot, giving more room in the passenger footwell. I now have the problem of getting into the boot should the battery go flat, this is more likely now that winter is here and the car is used less. I also want to be able to connect my accumate battery conditioner without either keeping the boot open or having the cable plugged into the cigarette lighter.
As a result of the above, I have decided to fit an Anderson connector, this has thrown up a few questions:
- Where are they generally fitted, I'm thinking in the front, somewhere in front of the radiator,so that I can get at it without opening the bonnet?
- Does it need to connect directly to the battery? As this is now in the boot, if I can aviod it I would rather not have another wire fed the length of the car.
- What size cable should I use?
Advice appreciated.
Thanks

The horror stories are with the Tuscan's etc where they have a Anderson connector mounted in the battery space in the front wing. This gets covered with gunge from road spray etc and can cause corrosion so that the wires can break and potentially short out.
Nothing wrong with an anderson connector itself. It's just the way that TVR fitted and used them. If anything, I prefer them to charging points as the contacts are very well protected from accidental shorts.

With a flat battery, but in the boot: - gain access to the interior (not saying for obvious reasons) plug standard 4A halfwits charger into the cigarette lighter; turn key and use boot button as usual.
Is it me ?
Matt.
If I am in a rush I just want to jump it and be off, so jump points in the cabin are a good idea (or an anderson fly lead hidden behind the dash). But its a good point about the ciggy lighter and simple so I may have a rethink now !Is it me ?
