race fuel

hi im getting into drag raccing and am in the middle of building a new car which i hope to have built by the middle of next year anyway the engine im planning on using is a 1.8k series with about 200hp it was mapped on shell v max but when i start racing im thinking of running a higher octane fuel of at least 104 octane can i run it without getting it remaped or would i see no benefit or worse total a good engine thanks for any help or advice i apreciate it

No significant advantage unless you re-map it; the K-series doesn't run a knock sensor, so it can't adjust itself for maximum ignition advance.

Some people will say that higher octane fuel makes the combustion feel a little sharper and cleaner, but whether that's just psychological is open to debate.

Higher octane fuel is often used to safeguard against detonation.

Unless you are using a very high CR or loads of Turbo boost then it's
probably not needed.

Drag Race fuel is about £130 for 5 gallon can at the pod.

200hp on a 1.8 K series is not going to need race fuel.
