So who else had success or a sob story this morning?

Wanted to buy a plate for my daughter but the stupid site kept crashing...when I finally got in it said "someone else is browsing this plate". Kept doing this for 20 mins and then eventually "This plate has been sold" frown

I called him a moody bd elsewhere a couple of minutes ago, I was joking but now I shall reconsider hehe

Mate of mine had this a few years ago, would have had the plate that spelt his name perfectly with only a 4 for an A, the rest spot on - instead he's had to have a 9. Still looks decent, but really not the same, and it turns out the version with the 4 is now worth about three times as much.

That was with the phone line system back in the day, though - it's not exactly a problem unique to websites, when there's huge demand you're all going to have the same trouble trying to access it!

Yeah the site was a joke this morning. It was 8.45 before I finally logged in. Plate I wanted was being purchased by someone else, but since the site kept crashing I persisted. After twice being purchased by someone else AND actually being advertised on RT for £1495 I eventually picked it up for £405. It is chaos though, you really need a bit of luck on your side.

Well maybe offer them a figure in between? they might sell for less than advertised for a quick mornings profit. I think they must have a fat broadband pipeline to get good connection early. I struggled until nearly 8.50am and have freinds who struggled also.

I would email them & ask about it, but then I'd keep getting mails about other plates!

Bought a plate for my Mum this morning for the £405 at the request of my Dad. Website was dire though. RT still have the plate listed for 3x the price I paid. Don't think it would be good to sell the plate to RT before my Mum got hold of it.

When you're looking at a plate on the DVLA website it gives you a unique url to that plate. As opposed to going through the whole site when they go up for sale just paste the url into your web browser. Hit buy it now. Job done.

I just don't understand.

Why is it the DVLA's fault that other people wanted to buy the same numberplate as you?

They'll have some serious broadband and an office full of people.

i just think the people who missed out are very lucky, if it wasnt for a dodgy website you could be the owner of a slightly personalised registration plate wink
