Cobra Replica replacement?

Hi All,

In August I sold my Crendon 427SC as I had an Ultima all lined up...the deal fell through (it was a part build - he decided to keep it) so I am now without a stonking V8 in the garage.

What would the PH Massive buy as a replacement?

The Crendon was epic - 7.0 Ford with 4 speed toploader, very period spec. 0-60 in sub 5.0 without drama, 0-100 in 10 or under - and weighed in at under 1200kg with me and fuel.

Budget up to £50k.

Are there any other cars with oomph to match or better my old steer that are not Ultimas?

There's a lot of Jag XKR and Astons too for up to £50k, but I'm not sure if they're too 'civilised' compared to a Cobra or Ultima.

What about a Gardner Douglas GD T70?

If youre careful, you can get a really very nice GT40 replica for that kind of money, not as quick as an ulitma, but probably better ride quality...can you not find another ultima?
Alternately you could get a good noble for that sort of money; rapid cornering and a very together car..

The Gardner would be up on my list. Or why not price up a new Ultima, surely 50K would go a long way to building a very nice one?

Daytone is more the deal I think, although geting another 10k out of the Mrs may be hard work!

I've had a rethink on the Ultima front, hence this thread. Perhaps I was not meant to get one, hence the 1st chap backing out of the deal? They are lovely tho...that Daytone is on another level however!

The GD T70 also has some strong plus points! No any for sale tm tho?

No surprises there, eh?

For me, the £50k has to buy something as fast or faster than the car it replaces. A Testarossa is not as fast or faster, so it's a no go from there for starters. Then there's the problem of it being Italian...;)
