So they rioted because they don't like the Police?
Discussion
Did they target the police? I don't think they did in the main, I think they targeted shops, and that's because they are thieving scum, but they can't admit they are thieving scum, so they resort to the first credible excuse, which happens to be the police.
As I remember it, there was actually very little talk, at the time, of the police, and even of Mark Duggan.

This was on in the morning....had a rioter on there complaining about it was unfair that their benefits were cut "cus they aint no jobs init"!! Then going on about complaining that the government is telling them to go to uni....but they can't because the fees had gone up (never thought to look into how they would actually be better off than before) absolute f
king cretins! I would love to be able to live in central London with the opportunities they have on their doorstep (some of the new schools they are getting have amazing facilities, much much much better than I had at my school) if only they could stop blaming everyone else and realise that life will not be handed to them on a silver platter!!

I do sometimes wonder whether I'm sitting in some ivory tower, looking down so to speak, but all I know is that I had a decent upbringing and have never been in trouble with the Police in my life.

If I ever had have been I suspect my parents would have made sure that it was the first and last time, not stuffed me full of ritalin or blamed the teachers or pretty much anyone they could rather than face up to their responsibilities.
I echo the sentiment about Central London. I don't go there often but whenever I do I'm amazed by how many foreigners I encounter. I have a very simple take on it which is that if they can manage to get from Latvia to Central London to get a job paying minimum wage, struggling to make it from Croydon shouldn't be so difficult, but that's just my opinion, init.
They don't like the Police
"Who does" might make an interesting poll.
With some surprising results.
I was one of the Rubber bullet, water cannon brigade, but for me it was the lesser of two evils
I am not anti police in any way, I just don't think they perform in an effective manner.
I hold everyone to the same standard, the binman should not leave a trail of rubbish and the broker should execute at the price I gave him.(unless it's market)

They've just proven to me they are braindead. "We got no opportunities!" - you got free education but it's apparently too feminine to do well at school... spacker; most of them are less than 20 minutes from the job capital of England... "We hate stop and search!" - well stop stabbing each other then, spacker. "It's an anti-police riot!" so you burnt small shops and people's homes, then. They're braindead and a waste of space; better off offering their body to the local glue factory. Nothing further to add.
Just look back in our and the world history when the public are pushed far enough they do this sort of thing.People are kicking off all over the world at the moment. Its not just the brain dead that have been rioting although in think most of them are.I know copper that trains for civil unrest. He said that they have been expecting trouble for the last 3 years and he was surpressed it has took this long.
The only thing is they rioted at the wrong things.
All the rioters did is to p--- the public off then and every one said i don't under stand why they did it.
If you are goin to kick off at least do it too the right things. And we all no who they are.

Please tell me that you mean pushed too far as in given too many opportunities, too much in benefits or too lenient sentences in court?
Or do you really mean pushed too far as in the police shooting back at someone who opens fire on them? Police searching a "disproportionate" number of the highly visible minority that commits a disproportionate amount of knife and gun crime, and worst of all pushed too far by the wicked cuts by a government who is slowing down the rate at which the country is bankrupting itself to finance these leeching, brain dead vermin to turn huge swathes of one of the world's greatest cities into a violent, rotting slum.
And all of it coming to a head on a few warm evenings in August, of all times.
They rioted because they could. It's as simple as that, and the dirty little scroats said as much at the time.
They realised they could because they had already broken one-by-one all of the boundaries that a civilised society lays down. While farmers and sportsmen can hardly get permission to buy a shotgun these scum walk around with automatic pistols. While working people pay through the nose for car insurance, then lose their licence for doing 90mph on an empty road, they walk free from court after tearing around housing estates in stolen cars.
So while the stupid rest of us scrimp, save and borrow to buy luxury goods and designer clothes they smash in a shop window and take what they please, and given their past experiences this is perfectly rational behaviour.
Then finally, decades too late, the civilised section of society decides to make an example of a small number of rioters who can actually be identified and prosecuted, and gives them something approaching meaningful sentences. And the hand wringing morons at the Guardian and the LSE come along and verbalise the inane excuses that the rioters are unable to, saying in so many well strung together words that "well yeah, it's like, da police and dat, you know, innit man, they is pickin on us and fings, and like there int no jobs, you know."
Then tomorrow some wrong headed ninny in a community centre will pass out copies of the Guardian to his proteges and they will think they have some sort of intellectual backing, or an excuse, for their repugnant behaviour and their worthless existence.
So the circle jerk descent into ruin continues.

Show me one occasion in world history when the public were pushed far enough that their only recourse, their only option, was to rob JJB's and Comet for trainers and plasma's?RemainAllHoof said:

Although I guess we all knew that the report would not blame the rioting scum

Is that what happened? People were pushed too far? Had 73% of them been pushed too far previously, or was it their own fault that they already had a criminal record? Had 26% been pushed so hard, that they were already familiar with the inside of a prison? Had they been pushed so hard that those with a criminal record had an average of 15 convictions? Why are you making excuses when it's plain to see that the main cause of this was a massive criminal element?
Have a listen to this, if your blood pressure can stand it.
This is presumably the most eloquent rioter the Guardian could find for it's sickeningly pro-riot section "Reading the Riots."
He can't string a f
king sentence together.
He can't maintain a coherent thread in his own pathetic monologue, moaning about lack of jobs, how he wants a Mercedes, and how awful his (free) council house is, in random unrelated drones.
He claims to be hungry? f
k off.
Prison is a better option than staying out? Well I've got some ideas that could change that equation.
It's not about race, but he, a black man, seems to think it was.
And the education system is a joke.
This is the best they could do? He is a f
king joke.
I don't really like to judge people on the basis of a snapshot, but I can honestly say that I hate this individual. He is the epitome of a self degenerated waste of oxygen, who prides himself on his ignorance and stupidity.
