Scuffing/squealing sound when moving

Hard sound to explain, it's coming from the front(ish) underside of the car, only happens when the car is moving and it becomes quieter when I stick the handbrake on one click.
Suggestions I've had so far is that something may be fouling the propshaft although what the handbrake being pulled has to do with that I don't know, whether it provides more clearance between something that could be caught? Sounds as loud at crawling pace as it does at 60.
I haven't noticed any ill effects, if I didn't hear the noise then I'd not know anything was wrong.
Any ideas? Car is a 330Ci not that it'll help I doubt.

Noises that appear to be from the front are just as liekly to come from the back. Handbrake will be a cable pulling on a lever on the rear calipers so it may be brake related or possibly a bearing on the way out.
Many brake cables tend to lose their rubber end belows allowing water into the cable itself which means the brake doesn't release properly. You may be able to salvage the cable with new bellows (as supplied on ebay for Zafiras for example)and copious amounts of spray lube but may need new cables.
Try disconnecting the cables and driving the car (not forgetting you no longer have a handbrake!).

Equally likely that the very thin metal shims that hold the pads in have either got something trapped underneath them or they've seized up slightly. Easy fix - take them out (either removing a retaining pin, or undoing one of the bolts that holds the caliper on and loosening the other one so that you can swing the caliper up (or down if it's easier), take the shims out, apply copper ease on the sides that aren't in contact with the pads and put it back together again.
If the pads are worn down, you'll know as soon as you look! You'll probably need a wind back tool to change the pads over though.

It's going into the garage on Friday so I'll be sure to mention any suggestions. The brakes were done all round only a couple of months ago so no pads or the like are worn.
To be more specific, I originally noticed it at the tail end of last week on the way to work, the sound then went away completely for a few minutes then returned.
Surely it must be handbrake related in some way at least though?

Do BMW handbrakes have pads. My old 325 had drums on the back for the handbrake

OP - try engaging the handbrake gently for a few hundred yards and see if the noise goes off afterwards. Could just be a bit of rust in the drums which is catching the shoes.

Yes, it has pads but they're nowt to do with the handbrake, as I outlined above. Pulling the handbrake on will have no effect on the pads, only the handbrake shoes, which are a completely different animal.Do keep up at the back!
