The new dashboard update is out today (not live yet, I just checked).

The biggest change seems to be the new Window 8 style (Metro) interface. I hate the current tabbed interface. I much preferred the old blades style, so this might be an improvement.

Cloud storage looks good. I've got two consoles, currently I can only run Xbox Live on one of them and holding my profile and game saves on a memory stick is a bit of a pain. Not sure what happens when your Internet connection is down though.

I'm not really bothered about the new media services and the social networking updates. Using a Windows Smartphone as a remote for the Xbox could be fun though.

You can see a list of changes here.

I'm at work now so won't update until tonight, do old themes still work? The background picture ones and the premium ones.

Any noticable bugs, folks?
Lots of chatter on the Xbox fora about troubles logging into Live post-update, but that might be the volume of traffic.
More worrying are the reports from a lot of the beta testers reporting that the new dashboard stopped the DVD drive reading disks, surely they can't have let it go in that state.

its st imo!

I use my xbox to play games. far too much crap involved these days.

You have to still go through different menus to get to marketplace to buy add on's and it just makes it harder to actually get to what you want.

Not a happy chappy.

i guess im just getting old. (but not as old as you obviously!) things are very over complicated - needlessly imo.

But yes, its massively better than PSN! hence why my ps3 is an expensive freeview box and has been since GT5 was shelved.

Quite like it, but I'm not overly bothered about the social apps etc. The addition of Lovefilm is good, a shame you seemingly can't stream HD though.

No problem with the DVD drive on mine. Quite like it to be honest.

There are 'new' terms and conditions to agree to. One I noticed was 'no refunds, all sales are final' so I'd be careful with the auto renew system they put in place without telling you and send you one discreet e-mail telling you they are about to charge you and the only way to stop this happening is over the phone.

It seems much more difficult to find the inside Xbox updates. And I don't at all like the sky player advert on the home page.
