Can anyone recommend a good driving experience day as a Christmas present? I am looking for something the will let my girlfriend get out in a car and have some fun rather than do a couple of laps in something exotic. Cost isn’t that big an issue I am looking for something that is value for money and will get her a good amount of time in the car. All recommendations are very welcome.

Caterham experience days are said to be good, but are probably fully booked up in advance. Palmer Sport days are also well regarded if cost truly isn't an issue.

I would avoid the normal 'Drive a ferrari' gift jobbies. The wife got me one for a DB9, Gallardo and a 360 Spyder as a wedding gift and whilst it was enjoyable, I got about 5 minutes track time in each but was there for over 6 hours! It is good, but just not worth £150+.

Steer more towards the 'out of the ordinary' type experiences, perhaps drifting or (as mentioned) the Caterham track days, even a rallying day. You're less likely to get as many people there on the day which, whilst not necessarily giving you any more track time, will make the day more enjoyable for both of you as there will be more enthusiasts and less 'let's ust spank it round' type punters.

Plus the rallying ones will inevitably be in/near a forest so you can take a nice picnic and save on the £10-each greaseburgers that they have at days like that!

Caterham/Westfield do half/full day track days. If thats booked up you can rent a Caterham for the road which is very fun driving

Thanks for all the replies, the rally day might be a good one. Does anyone have any good recommendations of a rally day they have enjoyed?

If it's not necessarily performance cars you're after, I bought my other half a stunt driving day which she absolutely loved.

ETA:
Just looked through the pics from her driving day. Wheelie van, drive by shooting, J turns, synchronised driving, push me - pull you car, and one car on top of another with the top one steering and bottom one doing throttle and brakes.

Another one to consider is a Land Rover Experience day (particularly at Eastnor). Not cheap but really good for driving time and all in new LR vehicles. My wife and I have done several. A full day experience in a new RRS had just the two of us and and instructor, we each got 2+ hours driving on challenging terrain plus a bit on-road.
