try ACKBARS

its not in the city centre just outside on leeds road. about 5-10 mins in a taxi.

i can be really busy esp on a weekend, but ive yet to taste a better curry in Britain.

theres allot of good curry houses in bradford but this one is by far the best in my opinion.

That's why I said in my opinion....I think its the best but that doesn't mean everyones going to like it. Just recommending.......smile

There's also a new restaurant called jumeria, which specialises in 'low fat' curries which are very nice. Also do shisha if that's your thing

Also on leeds road.

Depends if you want curry restaurant or basic but great tasting curryhouse. If the former, Mumtaz is fairly central or try Akbars on Leeds road or Aagrar. Karachi behind the ice rink is probably the best central curry cafe, or try Akbars cafe, also on Leeds road.

I hate myself for this, but...

+1

Had the best samosas and bhajis ever from there. Mrs Dibble has Asian staff members who live in Bradford and this is the one a lot of them use and recommend.

Also worth a punt is Prashad, the one from Ramsay's Best Restaurant. Vegetarian, not in the city centre, but very good. You may have to book. Never been able to just walk in.

Only been to Akbars once and found it a bit meh. The branch on Leeds Rd in Bradford is always busy. Jumeriah in comparison seems dead whenever I drive past. Have heard good reccomendations about sweet centre but yet to try it myself. I am a fan of Aagrah but then again I find pretty much all curries regardless of which restaurant I try to be the same.

I've been to the Kashmir a few times now and always enjoy it.
It's an old school curry house with the "posh" restaurant upstairs and a cafe type room downstairs.
Downstairs you'll find all the taxi drivers, mill workers etc. And it's pretty cheap.

Here's a Google link for ya.

If you've read Bill Bryson's Notes from a small island it's the one he went to.

Just to let you know it's a authentic curry so may be a different taste to what your used to.

I think what needs to be established is whether the OP wants lager, poppadoms and a ring of fire or some authentic cuisine. Bradford can certainly cater for both.

Very good point.
Kashmir don't serve alcohol btw.
