Scratching multiple itches? Who's done it?

I am seriously considering ticking a few cars off of my list in the next year or so before I commit to a long term vehicle. Has anybody done it? i.e. buy various cars and keep them for 6 month periods then move on and try another? I have a list which basically consists of:

Integra Type-R
RX7
BMW 850 V12 Manual
Supra Twin Turbo
Celica GT4 WRC
And maybe some of the following:
E34 540i Sport
E39 540i Sport
Jag XJR or S-Type-R

Not a big fan of autos, but as a short term thing.....

Has anbody else given this a go over a sustained period of a couple of years or more, how did it pan out for you and what did you buy??

Ive been doing it for years
I doubt I will ever buy long term, 2 1/2 years is the longest ive had a car, mostare 6- 12 months some 2 months

Well I used to do it in a "climbing the ladder/getting something faster each time" kind of way. Now I want something good that can genuinely be a long termer, but all the cars I still want to experience in the small money bracket aren't getting any younger....

I think I should go through the list and try them all out

Gone from Fabia vRS, Golf Mk2 GTI, Clio 182, Integra Type-R, MX5, BMW 328i E36, MR2 Turbo in quick succession. Had a Primera GT after that which was not one I had on my list originally, and was surprisingly good for what it was, but has been written off by someone presumably half asleep on a dark monday morning, and am going to go back to an MX5 because it has the highest price/fun/running cost ratio of all the cars I owned.

I'm 22 and have had three long-term cars. When I move out and can't afford to race anymore, I plan to sell my cars and scratch until I'm all scratched out. Can't decide whether to start with an Elise and get a shopping car to go with it, or just get a Boxster...
