griff with suspect rot
Discussion
More info. needed.
Car could be worth anything from £5k (if needs engine rebuild) to £15k.
Outriggers can be done from £1200 - £2000 although you could spend 10 x that on a full refurb....
Buy carefully though and you won't lose money - on my 4th Griff now (3 of them from '94 ..).
Good luck. Paul.

Having the outriggers done is no big deal as long as the rest of the chassis is sound. If someone is doing them for you budget about 1.5k.
As for the lack of servicing in the last 5 yrs, i wouldnt have thought it a problem as by the sounds of it the car wont have covered many miles.
You say its nice on the outside and inside, just make sure its good on the underside, bar the outriggers, and if it is, go for it.

It will certainly need a full service as well as the chassis doing and almost certainly new tyres so with that lot you are probably looking at up to £2.5k - a bit less if you do the servicing yourself. You could ask someone who knows Griff well to go with you to look at the car so you get a second opinion on other possible things which could cost you more later. Everything is doable - it just costs money.

Don't just look at the outriggers...check the main chassis rails as well, especially top rail and bracing towards the rear of the engine bay from underneath the car.
My first Griff had rust holes in this location even tho the outriggers seemed reasonable, which meant a body off refurb and that can get expensive.

If you can use spanners, I wouldn't be too afraid....
A new auto box for my Audi cost £4500, and needed to be trailered (£80) to an Audi Dealer so their 'Audi Networked Computer' could match the Gearbox ECU to the Engine ECU (another £110) before it would engage in gear!! There's not a great deal on a Griff that could touch that sort of expense or sheer craziness!!!
