Agonising over my next daily diesel - help...!!
Discussion
Torn between the Peugeot RCZ & THE Alfa Giulietta.
It's my company car & the costs are the same, performance is similar & both are ok to drive. Both will be 2.0 oil burners.
The Peugeot looks more racy, but will i look a bit girlie in one? Also, i have my speed machine for the weekends, so dont need another sports car.
I adore Alfas ( & have owned them all my driving life ) but i cant help feeling the Giulietta is just a bit ordinary. Cloverleaf looks good, but the rest of the range can look too much like Astras for my liking ( sorry Astra drivers, but Alfas should have that little extra ).
Not sure where to go here
Any thoughts??

Pshh... Ignore the stupid comments about this and than being "girly".
Cloverleaf Alfa G is a really smart looking car, I agree that lesser models look a little boring. The RCZ has a stunning rear and roof-line, just don't look at the front!
I couldn't advise without seeing these cars up close but I do like the idea of either... the RCZ especially. You might find that a poke around and drive of them will make you mind up. You might hate both!

Cheers guys.
I've driven the Alfa, & it was ok. Not a terribly exciting place to sit, a bit "sit up & beg" for my liking. I'm coming from a Alfa GT coupe, which has been awesome, & still feels good to this day.
I'm driving the RCZ later, & keeping fingers crossed.
RCZ would certainly be more exclusive, as round here in Nottingham, there's Giuliettas everywhere1

I once had my heart set on an Alfa GT because it's a stunning car from the outside. Love it. Then I took one for a drive and just felt disappointed... such a shame. I'd still like one, I'd just keep it on the drive and look at it.I've driven the Alfa, & it was ok. Not a terribly exciting place to sit, a bit "sit up & beg" for my liking. The Giulietta didn't really tickle my fancy, but I know plenty of people who really enjoy theirs. Maybe it's a car you grow to like rather than being bowled over straight away? Like you, I wasn't sure of it's looks or it's "specialness", and the lack of a clutch footrest really grated so it was time for a change away from Alfas for me.
To be honest both are cars I would rather buy with somone elses money, not because they are bad not driven either but I can imagine depreciation is going to hurt both of them.
Personally I would get the Alfa, spec it up so its a very nice place to be inside, I think the RCZ will have to many cons of a "sports" car without the pros to make up for it.

Interesting.I'm disappointed to be moving away from Alfa, they've been special for me over the last 15 years. I wish they did a Giulietta based coupe, they're missing something there. I nearly went 159, but they're very old now & none seemed to drive that well to me.
What route have you gone down?

Sadly a 320ED. Like you I run it as a company car, and figured if I couldn't get a car I really loved, I might as well get one that was very cheap to run - it's halved my tax bill over the Brera! And do you know what? I do actually enjoy it. It drives very well indeed, but I never once look back at it when I've parked it up or stand back when I've washed it and think how proud I am to have it. It's just a car. It's been said before, but if BMW made cars that look like Alfas it would just about be perfect.

My daily runner is a 320d M Sport Coupe (1,000 miles a week)...my first venture back to BMW for some time and I was fearing disappointment. Fortunately, I am absolutely loving it, the way it drives AND suprisingly even the way it looks. Best of all, I am getting a genuine 45-50mpg, despite driving the life out of it on A/B roads. Only disappointment is the narrow power band and slight lack of urge, but hopefully a chip will see to that. It's been said before, but if BMW made cars that look like Alfas it would just about be perfect.

I spent a lunchtime in the Beemer garage. I was interested in the 1 series coupe. Seemed a great little car, i just struggle with the bland interiors. Also, a few people have scared me with horror stories in ice & snow! It's been said before, but if BMW made cars that look like Alfas it would just about be perfect.

You can spice the interiors up with a dip into the vast options list - I went for saddle leather, black piano wood and sat nav which makes it a bit more interesting, but it's never going to look like an Alfa. I put winter tyres on mine last month and it's been OK so far in the snow and ice. They are laughable without - friend of mine got his 330 stuck on a flat car park once! Just for the record Cirvy, there seems to be two types of cars that struggle to get up my road in winter, one is the BMWs and the others are Lexus. If you do get a BMW then a pair of snow socks would be a good purchase, there's a video on YouTube which shows a BMW before and after some fitted.

Cheers Kev, and Merry Christmas btw ( not too early is it?)I remember seeing a guy in a 5 series attack his with a branch, proper Basil Fawlty! He was beeing overtaken by buses near where i work & was slithering about so badly, he gave up. He got stuck in the end, lost his rag, & attacked it! Funniest thing i'd seen for years

Snow issues are made much worse by runflat tyres. I had a 1 coupe a few years back, and it was ok in the snow with ordinary (summer, non-runflat) tyres, but dreadful (in so many ways) on summer runflats.
I'm sure you're right. Thankfully the ED doesn't have runflats!Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
