Karting - Leeds - Monday night drivers club
Discussion
Anyone fancy some go-karting?
I'm thinking of going next Monday night (12th) so I thought lets see if we can get a PH team together
The cost is £15 but you do need to join the 'Drivers club' before hand which is an annual £20 - but at £35 for you first event its still hardly pricey is it
The format is basically turn up at 6:30pm, pay/register and form a team of 4 with strangers or mates.. each person will get 30mins driving time and you have to change drivers throughout the race so everyone gets a go.
Track website and info is here: ppik.net/leeds-monday-club-karting/leeds
Its a good laugh, and really good karting practice too as you'll be racing against experienced racers and karters! Its a great track too, the best indoor setup I've been to anyway. See if you can keep up, its much easier said than done! I'm a novice myself, I've only done one monday night event before so dont be put of thinking I know what I'm doing
The monday night club is on (surprise surprise) every monday night, so this could happen another time if you cant make this one :thumb-up:
One last thing, this probably isn't THE best place for a complete go-kart beginner, the other drivers dont bully as such but the pace is very quick
Non club members need to arrive at 6:30pm to register (unless you do that another night before monday) Registered members can turn up at 7pm
Any questions just shout

I go to this most week's. Its a good night, the pace is fast, so as mentioned, can be a bit off putting for beginners but you soon get up to speed. Let me know if you come down and I will say hi
Here is a link to a video from last year (not mine).

Now how will I recognise you? My uber blonde hair is my biggest give away

Not sure what the surface is but it looks too polished to be tarmac, so could well be slippy.
i once tried getting a karting meet going on VXRonline but hardly anyone was interested.
Ive been a few times.
It can be abit intimidating for a first timer but after 5/10mins on the track it goes away. I think it could be good for a beginner, especially if your following someone more experienced to learn the lines etc.

Well that was bloomin awesome!
Teams of four were picked out at random to mix things up a bit, and imo that works really well. It means no One team turns up every week and beats the living hell out of the rest of us, and driver ability is mixed up.
There was some great racing going on throughout, I know I had a number of great battles with other drivers durning my session
Highly recommended

Sorry PGD5, I had not logged on since posting. I was down on Monday, I was in the blue helmet in team 18

I was at the Wetherby track a few weeks ago. It is polished but I have raced on far worse tracks in terms of grip. It's not the best track set up in my opinion and defensive lines mixed with a lack of width on corner exits can make overtaking quite frustrating.
