As per topic title really, I'm looking for buy a decent(ish) pair of headphones for use with a Digital Piano by a "quite good" musician.

Does anyone know what I should be looking for or have any recommendations?

TIA

I have a set of Grado 80i's and love them. Great for music with instruments as opposed to dance music and the like.

They are open backed so you do get a fair bit of sound leaking out.

You do get the Grado 60 series which is cheaper if the 80's are too expensive and they are meant to be excellent as well.

Cheers

Cheers guys, when you say "leaking out" is this enough to really annoy others in the room or easily lost if the player doesn't have the volume cranked up too loud?

It's not too bad, if you use them at home. I can listen to them while my girlfriend reads or watches tv in the same room.
I let her use them for a bit, so she realised they were designed to let a little sound out (& I wasn't just banging music out really loud!)
You're very welcome try mine, I'm in South Manchester.

Excellent work, you won't be disappointed!
Maybe consider getting a little headphone amp too, to make them even better. I've got the Fiio E5. The newer versions here

Jeeez... think I need to edit my intial topic to something along the lines of "wanted cheap crap pair of headphones wanted"... My Grado SR80i were delivered this morning and all I can say is WOW!!

I've sat here all day listening to various CDs with them, not annoyed the neighbours once (which is rare for me), the dog has been happy to stay in her bed in the office (when normally she flees the volume)........ I think they might be too good a Christmas Present for Mrs M!!

Excellent stuff! They'll sound even better after a few days use when they're 'run in' too.

They really are fantastic headphones. does the amp make a real difference to them? I:m just using mine at work so not really getting the most out of them.

glad you got what you wanted though, happy listening!!

The little amp just makes everything sound a little deeper and richer. I prefer music that way a little.
I use one at home with my NAD C370 amp and Grado. One out with my iPod and noise cancelling in ear headphones.

The Fiio E6 headphone amp has just launched so the older (& I think nicer) Fiio E5 is reduced to £13 at the moment.
