Oil Filter - Fram PH2821a or PH2821a and where from?
Discussion
I used 'search' to find a thread where the two Fram oil filters were recommended. On eBay the PH2821a was described as being for diesel (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/fram-ph2821A-oil-filter-ford-granada-range-rover-derv-/320736701772#ht_1067wt_1396)
Is this right or is there a petrol version too?
Any recommendations of where to get a Fram oil filter from?
I assume there is nothing 'funny' involved in changing the oil in a 3.5 Wedge but if there is, please tell me.

Other recommendations welcome. Fram were what was mentioned on an earlier PH thread (Tale of two oil filters) by Rev-erend and Roodboy (i think)
Please let me know what you guys are running and where I can get them. Europarts website won't let me search and Halfrauds is a waste of time.

roodboy - Where do you get your filters from and which model?
The other thread was about a bloke who fitted the replacement Unipart filter and couldn't get good oil pressure.
So far it is two votes for Fram and one against. I will go with the first one someone can send me a link to. i just want to get it delivered and fitted.

No there's nothing funny involved in changing the oil - just get rags/kitchen roll stuffed around the remote filter housing before you take the old filter off. Obviously, as its 'upside down' it can spill a bit when you remove it. Some others will say that you have to change the oil at 1,000 mph to avoid oil draining out of the oil pump but I've never known anyone actually have any problems?
Sogefi/Fram supply lots of filters to OE manufacturers so should be OK. They own Coopers Filters in South Wales. I assume the type of filter is crucial, I suspect it should have a one-way valve to stop it draining down; I can't verify the ref number but I'd assume RT racing have it right.

I just fit some Unipart thing from the local motor factors. The V8 is renowned for being able to tolerate horrendously cacky oil, it doesn't stay in my engine long enough for it to matter what the filter's made of, or by whom it's made.
I have no doubt that the more high-end TVR V8s might be worth the fitment of a 0.0005 micron gossamer gauze filter, hand-knitted from the anal expellings of the death's-head moth by one-armed black lesbian single mothers in outer Uttoxeter, but your cooking 3.5 is exactly as LandRover dropped into countless Farmer Palmer specials and Hooray Henry pavement ornaments and they don't tend to be treated like F1 racing cars when it comes to servicing.
If I get it wrong, I'll just rebuild it; I've had to do it once thanks to the treatment it received at the hands of previous owners (and, come to think of it, the well-known dealer from whom I bought it, who gave it a bloody good thraping from cold on the demonstration drive - and as a racing driver you'd think he'd know better
