Need some advice/opinions

Been looking for a new car for a while now and nothing really stands out. The two cars i do quite like are the Astra VXR and the Audi a3 quattro (yes the imagine spec). Both cars are 2.0t petrol, but what are they like to live with, which would you chose or any different car with a budget of 8k

No 2 seaters
No rally reps
No M3, M5 insurance is to expensive.
