Aerodynamics and fluid mechanics

hi im new to the forum,

i just recently got accepted for work experience at Mira, a company that focuses on aerodynamics and do testing in wind tunnels.

i got placed in the fluid engineering section, and have been promised lots of action in the wind tunnels

i was wondering if anyone knew any good books i could read up on aerodynamics, so i understand more about the topic, im only 17 so something with little jargon

There's actually a mazgazine specifically focussing on aerodynamics called Bernoulli published by the same guys as one of the mags I write for. Drop me a PM and I'll send you some details, mate.

As well as the others mentioned, Just a few books ive had from the uni library or know other people have got - some are a bit 'stat heavy' but most include some pretty good info.

I think for somebody starting out this is a very very good book. Brilliantly simple to follow and does a great job of giving enough information without overloading you. It helped form a great part of my introductory lectures to aerodynamics at university and even when working in greater depth on my final year individual project I consulted it regularly thanks to its ease of use.

thanks for the links mate, i'm considering buying Fundamentals of aerodynamics, I've read on some sites that its a really good book

lol yhh I get my copy every month, their aero sections are really good, easy to understand and interesting.

Oh, and it's MIRA, not Mira (they make showers!) ;-)

Make sure they show you all the gubbins that actually makes the wind tunnel work, it's pretty amazing just how much pipework and plumbing is required !

(btw, tell em to get the window fixed in CWT2, its only been broken for about 12 years now.........)
