I've just received the MG11(T) form back from Judicial Service and want a little more advice on the validity of this form.

At the very bottom of each page is space for the signature of the Officer and a space for a witness. On my form there is no witness signature. Is this still valid as a Witness Statement?

Many thanks.

MG11(T) is the standard form on which a Criminal Justice statement is written (taken).

There are spaces for three signatures on the form. The first is after the declaration of truth at the top, the second is at the bottom left by the person who has made the statement and the third is the bottom right for the statement to be witnessed by someone else.

As Mungo has already posted, some witness statements must be corroborated/countersigned by law (Juveniles or vulnerable people)

Normally, a witness statement taken by a Police Officer will be signed by them at the bottom right hand corner as to the fact that he/she took the statement and the person it was taken from did not do it on their own.

The fact that a signature is missing from the bottom right hand corner does not mean that the statement is not valid in any way.
