Is it just me that finds extreme weather fascinating? I know that it can cause misery for many and can result in damage to property and serious injuries or fatalities and I’m absolutely not saying that this is a good thing and wouldn't wish it on anyone. However, I do find thunder and lightning storms, high winds, torrential rain and heavy snow exciting and am interested in finding out more about weather systems, what causes particular types of extreme weather and methods used for forecasting.

Having lived in the middle east the one type of extreme weather that I do not find interesting is 50 degree heat waves!

There was a program on TV a while back. It featured a fella who literally dropped everything at signs of a hurricane and travelled to the Far East. He met up with a friend from America that he knows through weather travels. He's been to America countless times chasing tornados. Spent his honeymoon in the Lake District, then immediately went off chasing tornados on his return!

You are him AICMFP!

You've got to hand it to the Scots, it's a lot more descriptive than your average 'Martha' or 'Irene'...
