Project C.A.R.S
Discussion
After doing a search and returning no results, i wanted to find out is there any other users currently testing/playing on the Project C.A.R.S platform?
I have been watching it closely over the last couple of months and was very impressed with the current build rate so went ahead and become a Team Member today and downloaded the software.
First impressions was very very good, although had a few crashes running on DX11 i found it a real challenge to really start pushing hard in some of the cars. I initially joined as it has the Audi R18 in it but also found one of the classic turbo F1's was mental to drive with boost kicking in and out!
For users not in the know, check out http://www.wmdportal.com/ - Its pre alpha stage atm so long way to go but it is very usable.

I really wish I had a gaming PC capable of running the likes of this, rFactor, Iracing etc

I just got banned from the forums and my money refunded for complaining about Frame Rates.
Nice 'community' assisted race sim, eh?
Also, you'll never run it looking like those screenshots on an 'affordable' PC. I get (got? ha) 35-45 fps average on a fairly high end rig.
LOL! What ranking member fee did you pay, the 25 Euro or 10 Euro option?Nice 'community' assisted race sim, eh?

Getting banned for basically giving the devs feedback is ridiculous!
I own Shift2 (made by the same people) and it has the most vague, mushy and unresponsive handling I've experienced in a racer, really bloody awefull so I'm keeping well clear of this unless I hear some positive word further down the line.

It's just the same, that was one of my other issues with the game.Altrezia said:
Thanks for this Altrezia, this did look interesting to me, but as my laptop isnt the best, and with that attitude from the Devs I will be giving this game a miss. I have done a couple of beta`s, I know I will always be towards the bottom of the specs but IMHO knowing that a game will work usably on a lowish spec pc is actually very useful to the devs. The arrogance of that guy in those posts is breathtaking, and considering that I found shift 1 on the xbox to be the worst racing game I have ever played (better handling in gt1 IMHO)it got played for an hour then sat in a drawer until I traded it, he needs to get some proper feedback from proper gamers otherwise the game will end up as another nfs shift.

Damn shame
You would have thought if the bloke had not had his head up his own arse that he would have taken note of all the criticism levelled at Shift 2 and recognised that a severe overhaul of the handling was needed
Oh yeah, has the good old Shift 2 inability to drive in a straight line without swaying from side to side. That FPS issue is ridiculous, my rig is a bit old now, but can still play iRacing with everythintg on high, this thing on standard settings at 1920x1080 was undriveable above 100mph...

Mine is an I5 2500k (@3.8), with 16gb ram and two 6970 2gb graphics cards.. amazing that it doesnt run properly.
No point in my buying it anytime soon then, I'm running an 8800GTX and a 6600 Intel quad core.I had been thinking about getting this, but I've just signed up to iRacing for another year, Ferrari Virtual Academy recently released the 458, rFactor 2 release a beta soon and GTR3 has been announced.
I think they will keep me busy, iRacing especially since the NTM on the ARX has been improved.

That really is amazing, even with everything on low detail it was undriveable for me once up to speed. And on the San Marino circuit (Bologna I think it's called in game?), every time I went past the pits the fram rate dropped to something like 15 or 20 FPS, absolutely dire..Chunkychucky said:

snap - same experience here. Thanks for the video - Very impressed - it really does look good when running properly. I wonder if there is an issue with the build that isn't raising it's head in all situations. A shame I can't load the game to try different things now.
Edit, just noticed the resolution - obviously I'm playing at slightly higher res than that - 5760 x 1080.

Just out of interest, is there any chance of getting a pic of your rig up on here? I mean, triple screens means business so I wouldn't mind seeing the rest! Thanks for the video - Very impressed - it really does look good when running properly. The answers they give in the linked forum are quite correct regarding the fps. At least for traditional game development, the functionality is chucked in and then tuning, optimising comes at the very end to try and meet fps targets. You need to have some idea when your originally creating it, but proper optimisation just can't happen until you know everything thats there.
It's a different way of working than you normally see with community based projects, but these guys are from a development studio and are aiming for development studio quality final results in the graphics.
As to how quick they are to ban people, I can see the frustration there, and it would certainly make a few people think twice about even bothering to sign up and donate their own cash.
