Why is ebay full of such dickheads?
Discussion
I'm selling a crappy little scooter for a mate. It's Cat D and cheap as chips. I've now had 4 text from people asking the "buy it now" price and when I've told them they've all replied with they'll"defo buy it".
I've only then had any further contact with 1 of them. All of them have said put up a buy it now and i'll buy it. Why the hell would I do that dhead? Then you'll not turn up and I've had a wasted auction.
My mate has emigrated and said he was giving it to me to sell rather than throwing it in the Thames. If I have to deal with many more of these tts I might just throw it in the Thames!!

Yeah unfortunately that is the situation. It's a shame really as I found it for my mate 8 years ago as a 8 month old Cat D Honda and it has been faultless for 20k miles. Now some dick will buy it, rag it round with no maintenance and then complain it blows up. Shame really as it's solid as a rock but looks like its just been used in a ram raid!
I had similar with a Puch Maxi I sold. The winner wanted me to deliver it because his mother would put it in her people carrier, his father said it wouldn't fit in his boot (to travel 3 miles). Taking a wheel off was beyond their mechanical ability, despite buying it as a non runner.
However, the pain was mitigated by receiving over £100 for it and I'd relieved it from a skip.

Ebay is full of decent folk, I've never had an issue with anyone on there myself.
Most people looking at an 8 year old cat-d scooter probably don't have a lot of cash to spare and are after an absolute bargain. You'll always get cheeky (sometimes rude) offers and requests. It's all part of the game.

I've just sold a Motocross bike on ebay and found all the 'what's the least you'd let it go for' messages from people who hadn't even looked at it very annoying. One chap even asked me to knock £180 off because he was In cornwall and it would cost him a lot to get it delivered.
The chap who actually bought it was a very decent chap though, ringing to arrange a viewing, ringing an hour or so before to confirm he was still coming and paying close to the asking price in cash with no fuss. There's still some good people amongst all the cretins!

I've no problem with cheeky offers, I've made a few in my time and they get met with equally cheeky replies. It's the "I'll defo take the bike mate" "what's the postcode?" "be there at 8 to pick it up" and then no more contact. They are the tts that are getting one my wick.750turbo said:

GF is selling her Mini, we almost travelled 200 miles to meet the 'serious' buyer because we're living up north temporarily. Fortunately her Mum was around to take care of it instead, which is good because they didn't turn up!
