Sent my amp (Roksan Kandy III) away for repair as it had an intermitent crackle, even when not processecing any sounds...

got it back and the reciept says

"Remove Bullet connectors and on cap. Carried out service and update. Soak tested working."

service - self explanatory
update - firmware I guess - so self explanatory
soak testing - self explanatory

but no idea what the other items are or why they needed doing... anyone hazzard a guess ?

cap will likely be a capacitor that needed replacing. I would not have expected bullet connectors in an amp but who knows.

£200 quid! I sold my candy for not much more then that!

How do you find it? I found it a very bright and light amp, didn't like it at all (if I remember right or got good reviews so may have been my other kit at the time).

Possibly there to provide a bit of smoothing as the amp powers up, and prevent a "thump" which could cause damage elsewhere.

i think it lacks a lot on bass especially on vinyl.... had a denon with a ran with PP1 before which i loved, went tits up so put it in for repair and bought demo roksan at a good price to tide me over whilst repair was done....... shop went under and amp never seen again ..... percervied with amp as had a old roksan caspian cd player..... wasn't happy with output and for what ever reason i decided to buy a new cd player... rega apollo..... fantastic sound .. relightened my interest in listening to music ... vinly still a frown

Is it definatley the amp causing the crackle? My Nait sometimes pops and crackles when theres a spike
Any new electrical items in the house? Fridge etc ? Anything that may cause RF interference?

Yeah, had a think about this over the last few days... trying to remember if I had noticed the issue before turning on the heating (electrical underfloor)..

The plan is now to pop round mates at the weekend and run my amp on his system and see if we can say yeah or neah to the amp working......

if its a neah, I'm going to be straight on phone Monday morn...... especially as they are supposed to of tested it as well..

if its a yeah, I'll be doing some head scratching......... may look at power supply first...
