it seems to have gone quiet about the failure of the strikes and their lack of disruption on the country, you'd almost think that the Clarkson incident was blown out of proportion just to mask the failed impact hehe

Well some fkers scrawled 'strike', 'no cuts' and the anarchy logo on the York city walls, in chalk mind! Other than vandalism-lite I don't know what effect the strikes had, probably a one-off increase in retail sales?

I don't think their (the strikes) resin d'être was to disrupt the country. I think that was the Governments take on it in order to solicit support from non public sector workers, (Divide and conquer). Moreover, attempt to give the public sector a guilty conscience about what they were doing. Just another opinion. biggrin

When I couldn't get home last night because someone had jumped on the tracks I was thinking about what else he said!

What did you think might happen during a strike announced weeks in advance? Aircraft falling from the sky or something?

Sticks.

The Unions were telling us that the country would collapse, it didn't smile

But me? I doubted much would happen apart from the shopping centres becoming busier.

Unison completely messed up. They ensured that the strikes will be remembered for overreaction to a fat middle aged funny man, not hard done by teachers as they would like to think.

It amazes me how unions are so stupid and bring about their own demise.

Most people going through airports said the immigration people were much nicer, and more efficient smile

I was almost tempted to complain last night when Frank Skinner had a fairly vehement pop at Clarkson for his comments then immediately afterwards took the piss out of the recent spate of incidents involving concrete being dropped from motorway bridges.

Quite tasteless I thought considering the pictures I saw of one of the victims on the news shortly before.

Of course it may have been theatre, but still tasteless.

Was reading The Sun at work today (before you ask, it was the only paper in the staff room, alternative was stare at our Christmas Bonus poster for the 999999th time), and where JC's column usually is, Richard Bacon had a column, and he suggested that Clarkson has been sacked by them i.e. he won't be doing any more Sun columns. Don't know if that's a pisstake (maybe he's too busy with TG or just couldn't be arsed this week) or if he has indeed been fired. But of all the people to 'replace' him with; Richard Bacon? A man who as far as I can work out has done nothing since being on CBBC when I was a young'un.

Things he has done have included:

1)Cocaine
2)Konnie Huq

Although not in that order.
