It's that time of year again and we are all talking about the benefits of putting winter wheels and tyres onto our pride and joys.

There must be some real howlers out there of under rimmed beasts with nice black steely wheelys on.

They are the same as the wheels I use the rest of the year. Managed perfectly well last year (crazy amount of snow) and both FWD. Why should I need winter wheels and tyres?

Where we live it is quite hilly, our road is north facing, steep in places, and doesn't get gritted. While the CR-V has usually managed on summer rubber I don't want to get stranded this year so am trying out winters on the Snocus.



Did ok last year on some nasty mixture of 14" Vredsteins and Kormorans or something. This winter running with 15"s and Dunlop WinterSport M3's.

I wanted another Forrester but couldn't find a decent one for £1k so ended up with this.



Last owner for 8 years, FSH, everythhing works and it's surprisingly good to drive, 5 good Bridgestone all terrain tyres too. I liveon an unadopted road in the Chilterns and my wife works in a small village which didn't get gritted for 2 weeks last winter so this makes it much easier! Plus it has alloys, no ugly steelies here
