Whats the best way to do it for cheapish?

I noticed that the clio that has 15bhp more than another one (same model) achieves a 0-60 in 2 seconds less

I understand its not substantial but if i put a air filter in my 58bhp clio and a remap, what 0-60 could i be looking at? im not going to chav it up just want it slightly nippier is all

Save your money, wait a few years, buy a faster car.

Spending money on a 58 bhp engine in a 1 tonne+ car is pissing in the wind.

Honestly, don't bother!

Save your cash, build up some No Claims Discount and put the money towards a car that is quicker out of the box.

Money would be better spent on refreshing the suspension and a decent set of tyres.

Its not what you want to hear but its a waste of time. Much cheaper and better to buy a better car.

It sucks, but they're right. It's not like the old days where engine designs were poor and you could unlock power with a bit of DIY head porting and changing the air filter. Modern designs are good enough that there aren't the easy gains to be made, manufacturers have already made them.
Any sort of NA tuning is mucho expensive.

+1 for chassis and brakes.

Making it go round corners and stop is more important than 0-60 times in the real world.

Once you have the plantform sorted and you can drive the car well then you have a whole Renault parts bin to play with.

Make sure you take everything out of the boot. Bit pointless driving around with half of crap in your boot

The lower end of the 'tuning' industry is mostly a con. An 'Air filter' could give you another 3%, thats about 2bhp. Or more likely, it could reduce the overall power/efficiency/mpg.

Seriously, it would have a larger effect if you just emptied your boot.

strip it out, tie a rope to the 58hp engine and give it to a sailor. Bang a couple of GSXR 1000 in the back. or a single busa.

I'm going to go against the grain here. I wouldn't bother tuning, your money would be better spent on buying a faster car to begin with.

...If by 'going against the grain' you actually mean 'agreeing with everyone who posted above', then yes!

A remap on its own will be £200, surely better spent on a faster car?

I know a method of easily reaching 0-60 in 2.8 seconds in your car.

It only works once mind....

Entirely upto the OP but if you want to do a simple air filter and maybe a decat etc then go for it, won't get great results with or with our a remap but of it's what you Want to do then go for it.
