Driving to Kiev
Discussion
With 2 drivers, you could do it in 48 hours easily. Its only 2500km. I wouldn't fancy driving that distance in that time on my own.
The roads there are pretty poor, the general quality of other drivers is more of a problem than the road themselves, and its not particularly safe to drive in a good car on western plates. Especially if its an expensive car.
Why do you want to drive there anyway?

The bit about not being safe to drive in a nice western car worries me a tad! Might leave the new Cooper S at home and pinch the old family passat,or is even that perceived to be"expensive" over there! The roads there are pretty poor, the general quality of other drivers is more of a problem than the road themselves, and its not particularly safe to drive in a good car on western plates. It would be quite a cool adventure but if you just need to get there and back it would much cheaper to fly. Luton to Kiev returns are around £266.
Is this some sort of Cannonball Run?
It's for Euro 2012,thought with demand of flights out there driving would be fun, but work commitments mean I cant leave earlier! Is this some sort of Cannonball Run?
Safety is he biggest worry to be honest, not overly concerned about distance and cost, done some mental road trips in the past

You probably won't get carjacked in the passat... You might only be singled out for a good old fashioned robbery.Seriously, unless you physically can't fly I'd forget the car idea. Especially if you go during euro 2012, it's only going to be worse than normal. Plus with it being split over 2 countries, you don't even know where games will be.
It's a great country, if you like women then I'd definitely recommend visiting... They all look tremendous and they LOVE British guys.
If you're going to drive, book a hotel with secured parking (one with armed guards in the car lot) and just drive there and back... Take the trains and busses between stadiums like everyone else. I wouldn't drive anywhere else - very little you need a car to see, and access to all he game cities is going to be good via public transport anyway.
Terrible idea - your car will get nicked as soon as the wheels stop turning, and the police love to lift people for "fines" (ie roadside bribes) - to the extent that when I was there a few years ago the Ukrainians I met all told me there was a roaring trade in false diplomatic plates to protect ordinary folk from police attention.
