Stupid things people say about TVRs
Discussion
Following on from the "stupid things non-petrol heads say" on the gassing station, I thought we needed our own here too.
So I'll start:
I've been upto my neck doing various fundraisers for my Rally next year and at one such event, had the Tuscan on display, all logo'd up and polished as you do. I then had a bit of a "Swiss Tony" sort of chap come up and start talking about the car:
Swiss "Absolutely love TVRs"
Me "Yep, they're awesome"
Swiss "yeah I've had a fair few of em in my time"
Me (Now with a heightened interest)"Really, what have you had"?
Swiss "Oh a couple of Cerebrals (yes thats right, CERBERALS) and the one that looks like the Viper, I've forgotten the name of it now"!
Me (Interest now long gone) "Right...Ok, great"
After listening to another 10 mins of drivel from Swiss he then pipes up with:
Swiss "So whats yours got under the bonnet"?
Me "4Ltr Straight Six"
Swiss "SIX? Why didnt you go for the V8?"
Me " because they only made the 3.6 and 4 in a six"
Swiss "Naah, they also did a V8 version, I almost bought one"
Me "Ahh right, you must mean one of the LS conversions"
Swiss "No standard from the manufacturer"
Me
Swiss "yeah that was the great thing about TVR, you could have any part from any car put on your order, like ordering a pizza" cue lots of him chuckling at his analogy.
Me "well you learn something new everyday, never knew that"
At which point the music starts and its far too loud to talk anymore, so he sods off.
And before anyone asks why I didn't put him straight, he put a cheque for £500 into the pot and for that he can talk as much drivel as he wants.

Visited Demon Tweeks for some bits last year.
When I came out, there were some young lads parked next to my Griff in a Focus. They were admiring the Griff and one asked me to rev it for them.
Another shouted to the lad "No, you can't rev TVR's, I've heard you can't rev them".
What the f
k he meant, I have no idea !!!
But they liked it and I couldn't resist leaving a big black 11 on the road, which they seemed to appreciate.

Another I've told before but made me smile......in the end.
Was at the MB garage to buy my wife an SLK.
While waiting in the reception area with the Salesman for demo SLK to be freed from other customers, the Sales guy asked me what I drove.
I told him about my Mk1 Tuscan.
His response was, "TVR ? there crap, totally unreliable, supprised you made it to the Garage, everyone knows etc...
I wandered of to the reception and asked for a different Sales person.
The new Sales persons first remark to me was, "said something to anoy sir ? he usually does".
The new guy was very happy to make the sale and get his bomus.
