10k on an Astra?

I'd be looking for a BM/Audi for around £7500 with a bit of cash left over if anything goes wrong.

Kia Cee'd. Cheapish, long warranty. Perfectly capable of being a runaround.

£10K on a runaround though. I paid less than £2K. And I thought that was a lot.

If it's just a town car:
Ford KA.

Old one for £1k or brand new one for £10k (with all boxes ticked) if you're clinically insane.

Spend £5k buying a Fabia VRS and spend the £5k left over to pay for the fuel...

50-60mpg is nothing to be sniffed at. Even in town!

7 x nissian micras = £5250

Which gives you enough change to get them all vinyl wrapped in different colours for each day of the week

I want to know what you have been sniffing to think it will do 60 mpg around town.

1 Series overpriced I think compared to the 3 series. CLC is an old C class in drag and has a terrible image.

Skoda Fabia VRS would be nice. Spend £6k and pocket the rest.

Audi TT is not really a runabout? What is your other car?

If you must spend all of your budget on a 'town' car, you can't go far wrong with a Yaris, or if you want something Astra sized, an Auris. They're reliable, well built and hold their value pretty well.

£10k runaround. You are spoilt for choice, and could even get something really daft and put enough by to run/repair it.

Why not a £10000 BMW???
? do you think nothing would go wrong on a £10000 Astra?

A £10,000 Astra is very likely to still be under warranty.
