From my perspective, it's ridiculously expensive at £1900. I paid £3,150 in late summer for a 2002 Subaru Legacy Outback Estate, with 80k - full leather, two sunroofs, electric everything, full main delaer history etc etc. At this end of the market folks want an interesting car as a snotter or if it's their only car then money is a problem.

If a car won't sell, and it is straight, clean and hasn't any 'bad history', then it's priced incorrectly. Simple as.

To be blunt, it's not a "bargain" (cash price or otherwise) if you're not getting any sniffs at £1900.

I'd imagine either side of Xmas is not a great time to be trying to sell a car at the best of times, and these are not the best of times. So if you want to shift it, be prepared to drop the price a lot.

Are there any examples of the same model with similar age/mileage showing as sold on ebay? If so, at what price?

That's pretty much what the market is like at the moment, very quiet. It's the run up to christmas, people are spending all the money they don't have on presents.

Try selling your house like we are . The market is dead Christmas never a good time to sell a car either .

I have a Ford Focus 1.6 "The most popular engine size in Focus's and if i am not mistaken the Focus and Fiesta are the 2 biggest selling cars in the new and used car sector
Which means that there are 5 billion other ones also available for sale.

Unless you are cheapest, or are offering a free blowjob/fingering with the sale, you arent going to stand out in the sea of averageness that is the mundane 1.6 hatchback market.

if you want shot of it make it a worthwhile purchase.. £1500?
if there's only a few hundred quid difference between yours and a dealership car - i would imagine alot of folk would go the dealer option for a little bit of peace of mind rather than buying private.

Its probably worth about 1400-1500 in the market at this time of year. Have you had any offers?

Put it like this, According to the Glasses guide on the Vauxhall website my 08 1.6 Focus trades at around £3250 - £3500. Allowing fo around 15-20% uplift for a private sale (if that!) and you'll see that everyday cars like the focus and astra are not worth much at all. With your Focus you can get a MK2 for the money you're asking.

If nobody is calling then its too expensive, its as simple as that.

I thought my similar aged mondeo was worth about 2k, turns out they are selling for about £750-£1k.

I think the main issue here is that you can buy a focus from anywhere and everywhere. If yours is slightly too expensive and is up for sale 2 weeks before Christmas you're going to struggle.

There are a couple on ebay right now:

This one is on 84k and is up for £1,795 (but not sold)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2002-FORD-FOCUS-CHIC-GRE...

This one on 113k but up for just £1,150

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2002-02-Ford-Focus-1-6-C...

I think your's is probably worth somewhere between the above, say £1,650 for a quick sale?
