With several threads about various hues of blue on Gen 2 997 GT3 3.8 and 4.0 RSs recently, what do the massed ranks of PH think about Maritime blue on a MK 1 996 GT3 ?

Difficult shape to make look good the mk1, yellow & red work, silver & black look overweight to me?

I'd say maritime would look nice

Is it the colour, or the angle, but that looks like a cheap body kit rather than a nice GT3.

i think the complex curves of the Harm Lagaay shape on the mk1, which by the way I love, and i think will come back into fashion, unlike the neither-fish-nor-flesh compromise of the mk2 - look better in bold metallics than maritime.

For me maritime works best on the '64. Zanzibar is my favourite on the mk1.

I think it looks great!

There's something about warmer colours on the early GT cars that I like even more, though. Speed Yellow or Zanzibar cloud9

I don't think Maritime works as well on the GT3 as it does on a 64RS

Zanzibar is THE colour for a GT3.1 - but then again I biased

I think it's been photographed from a rather "awkward" angle Mark. I agree it does the car no favours at all.
The blue is too light, something midway between Riviera and Mexico ?

I think you can get away with silver on a Mk1 (just) but the brighter colours such as Speed, Zanzibar and Guards work best.

I hope the owner of this GR example doesn't mind me using his image.

That's probably because you have subconsciously noticed that it's a 996 with aerokit, because the front splitter is body colour rather than black. /anorak nerd

You have probably seen this one before (997 tho).

As you know Maritime is very light sensitive and looks better under strong lighting conditions. I think it works on the 996, just not so much in photos from the UK where it tends to be against a dull and overcast light background.

Problem you have is how many NICE MK1 GT3's there are left..

I wanted Red or Zanzibar when I started looking (and this was 5.5 years ago when I got mine) but I ended up with a Artic Silver one, after a 11 month search I bought the best one I could fine.(PPI'd 3, and looked at 6 in total)

I would have the Maritime Blue, looks nice. (not as good as on a 64RS)
