Is it ok to give your bank details for them to pay for the car i have for sale? Can they use the details to take money out of my account or can the money show as cleared in my account but then are they able to reverse the transfer?

Have you ever written a cheque? If so, whoever you gave it to has all your bank details!!!

If you're worried about the money being pulled back take it out in cash as soon as it clears and before you let the car go.

Them pointing out a funny noise on the test drive waiting for you to stop and get out to investigate...

Swapping keys without you knowing it and coming back later to steal it...

Good advice, and then when the monies is reversed face massive unauthorised overdraft charges.

^^^ This. I've never understood the "flap" about bank details. A fraudulent transaction is the bank's problem, not yours.

And I've never understood all this stuff about reversals, charge-backs and so forth.

Put a zip tie/cable tie around the key to distinguish your key from a substitute.

Ok if your key has a loop to put it through, of course!
