Completely wiping and restoring a PS3?

To try to solve some issues I'm having, I'd like to completely wipe all of the game data on my PS3 from all games, saves etc. Does anyone know how to do this? Also, is it possible to 'restore' the system as you would with a computer? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
