had any fun in the ice yet?
Discussion
roads are starting to get icey as i noticed especially today.
trundeling down a back road noticed quite i wide corner with clear vision of any potential oncoming cars and lots of ice on it.
i drove on cautiously as i didnt know how slippy or not it was. having passed the corner with no problems i turned the car round and headed back in second gear one hand on the wheel the other on the handbrake for purly experimental purposes
approached at 15mph and yanked on hand brake back started to slide abit a chickened out almost straight away and corected i repeated this a few times as there was no traffic watsoever.
so this made me wonder do all you old fogeys in your more civilised motors still have a cheeky bit of harmless fun now and again?
has anyone done this or similar and had a bump, crash, come of the road and got stuck etc.
would love to hear your stories
also made me think this is what being a petrolhead is about just your average person in a very average car having a cheeky bit of childish fun in a car and enjoying it.

I won't do stuff like this on the roads, even if it is quiet as I will probably mess up and hit a kerb or put my car in the hedge. When the snow comes down though I usually pop into an empty car park or two.
I'm about the same as this, don't ever really try to provoke the car on the road as it'd be all too easy to slide into a kerb I'm sure. There's a car park close by to me with nothing in the way though, no kerbs, posts, nowt...
Last year instead of doing a 3 point turn in the pub car park I did a little cheeky 180 degree handbrake turn. No other cars in the flat car park and only did it at about 10mph so no risk of hitting anything.
A few years back I went to an abandoned industrial estate after it snowed heavily. It has a lot of wide roads with corners etc. I drove around it teaching myself how to control the car in snow and ice and correcting a skid after a quick dab of handbrake.
It taught me a lot and the experience has come in handy a few times when I've skidded in the snow and ice for real.
I'm not some yobo who races around industrial estates with a 'phat' exhaust though so please don't jump to conclusions.
