e60 M5 speaker upgrade
Discussion
How many speakers do you have?
I'm looking into this at the moment, and haven't yet worked out what to do. I'm fairly sure I need better speakers, and they will need a replacement / additional amp. I don't fancy doing the fitting myself (looks like lots of Airbags in the way).
I'm fairly sure I don't have Logic 7, but I have counted at least 11 speakers, all of which appear to work. There may be 13 if the ones in the roof at the back have 2 speaker units (it's an e61).
I'd be very interested in any information anyone has on this topic.

Not sure tbh .Lower frt doors plus tweeters , rear doors and rear parcel shelf plus sub(s) under the front seats ?? ( e60) .
and you've probably got one in the middle of the dash, right under the windscreen.I've not yet found anyone who gives me the confidence that the upgrade they're proposing will be a worthwhile improvement.
Right now a lot of the sound that I hear comes from the front middle speaker, but one chap I spoke to said he would disconnect that.
Like say, any advice appreciated.
Hi,
One way of not having to faff around or worry about speakers and their associated frequency drive ranges and what to replace with and how etc etc, is to connect up a signal summing device to the outputs of the OEM amplifier. That will 'sum' up all the speaker wiring and their associated frequency ranges and provide a full range signal via RCA/Phono leads. Connect that to a quality aftermarket amplifier and then use that to power after market much higher quality 2 or 3 way component speaker sets and you'll have a significantly increased sound quality level audio system.
Whilst upgrading to the best OEM E60/1 setup will improve things, it's really only a small step improvement - the oem subwoofers for one being fairly weak, and the aftermarket almost drop in replacements sounding far far better.
Depends on how 'much' you like quality audio in the car
Cheers, Dennis!
