Just thought I'd come on and give a big thumbs up for some excellent work done by Peter at Motortune.

I'd had the car in to the local OPC and they diagnosed the 997 needed three new coil packs and a new O/S silencer for the PSE… £1500 I didn't really want to spend just before Christmas. eek

Turned out the advice from the local OPC was way off the mark… the O/S silencer wasn't split on the weld, the brackets holding the exhaust flange had corroded so the joint between sections of the exhaust had dropped resulting in a drop in pressure and screwing up the oxygen sensors, which in turn was throwing up the check engine warning light.

Motorotune fitted 6 new coil packs (thought it wise to change them all at once), repair the exhaust flange bolts on both sides, carry out oil service, clean headlamp connections, reset service lights and test car… all for £525. That £1k I've just saved will come in handy this month!

So, big thumbs up for Peter at Motortune, excellent, honest service once again. bow

yes
We are lucky in the central belt to have a few good Porsche capable indies.
Peter gets my custom.
Very little reason to bother the OPCs - except complimentary helath checks and for free drinks and canapes!!

Thatd very true. Central belt does have some good garages. I take the ute down from aberdeen to get stuff done arounf the falkirk area as i know a few down in the area who are cheap and trust worthy.

Aberdeen has to be the worst place for labour rates and a decent mechanic. Only found one local to me but hes always fully booked.

Having Motortune 2 mins down the road from me is great.
I don't have a Porsche to send to him unfortunately but, it does mean the roads around here often have something nice to see/hear.
