It's inevitable that you will outlast your pet, unless you're Mybrainhurts, and I'm aware that over the years PH'ers have lost many loved pets
.
Has anyone actually, to put it bluntly, stuffed their pet?
When I was young we had a cat called Tigger and I wanted my mum to get it stuffed but she said don't be ridiculous (she also said that when I wanted a pet dolphin and to keep it in the bath) and in hindsight she may have been right, but now all these years later id like him curled up on the sofa!
Is it a bit creepy?
Would you do it to your pet, when the time comes? (obviously not before as that would be cruel)

I wouldn't as looking at them would make me sad. I can see why people might like to, although the eyes have to be fake so they never look quite right IMHO. At my vets they have leaflets about a service where you can have your pet cremated or something and they put the ashes into jewellery which I think is nice, but then I am a total weirdo .

We have had ours cremated. And you can buy special photo frames which also contain the ashes. So then you get a few pics of your beloved pet and you keep them with you. I would never get them stuffed, I think that's awful. I want to remember them as I do, not look at their bedgraggled body.
Adam, you're weird
However I would like to save up and have Stella made into a diamond!

When my Granny was alive she had a few taxidermy creatures. A huge owl being my favourite. I don't actually know the heritage of them, I shal endeavour to find out.
I've always wanted something in a glass case for my living room and hallway.
We visited Sir Walther Rothschilds home in Tring a while back. Such a fantastically eccentric place full of every animal you could think of, all stuffed and mounted. It's so eccentric it's wonderful. There are many personal pets there, and famous dogs too, including Mick the Miller.
I have photos of almost all the exhibits. Including my kids cuddling up to some.
