M3 E36 gearknob query?

looking at M3 E36 evos at the moment and have noticed the gearknob numbers lights up on some but not others. Is this standard or an option part? If it's standard, does having no lights just mean the bulb has gone or is it something worse?

AFAIK it's standard on all M3's (it's even in my Z3mcoupe)

It often fails (it's just a LED) and is simple to fix I understand

Standard on 6spd Evos and MCoupes/Roadsters.

Hi mate, It was std. on all late 97/98+ Evo's. SO basically R plate onwards.

I have a P plate and it doesn't have the illuminate knob. Although i do have Aluminium doors.
